Vacuum cleaner, operation and cleaning procedure

1.0 OBJECTIVE

1.1 To lay down a procedure for operation and cleaning of vacuum cleaners (Make: Roots).



2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This procedure is applicable to the Warehouse Department <COMPANY NAME>

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY  

3.1 House keeping personnel are responsible for operation and cleaning of vacuum cleaners.

3.2 Warehouse personnel are responsible to monitor the activity.

3.3 Head - Warehouse or the designee is responsible to ensure the compliance.

4.0 PROCEDURE

4.1 Precautionary measures

4.1.1 The suction nozzle shall be kept away from the body like eyes, ears and mouth.

4.1.2 The vacuum cleaner shall be correctly assembled before use.

4.1.3 Remove power supply while carrying out the next operation / maintenance work.

4.1.4 Wear hand gloves, nose mask and goggles (if required) while operating the vacuum cleaner.

4.2 Operating procedure for Vacuum Cleaner:

4.2.1 Ensure the insertion of cloth filter into the tank.

4.2.2 Ensure the HEPA filter is fixed to the inside motor.

4.2.3 Assemble the head on tank and block it by hooks.

4.2.4 Connect the flexible hose pipe to the suction inlet.

4.2.5 Connect the wand and extensions to other side of flexible hose.

4.2.6 Select the suitable accessories like PVC round brush, flat lance, dust tool, wet tool, and carpet tool as per the requirement. 

4.2.7 Connect the machine to the power supply and switch on the power.

4.2.8 Single switch mounted on machine operates “ON/OFF”.

4.2.9 Switch on the machine to start operation.

4.2.10 Clean the area as required.

4.2.11 After completion of the cleaning activity switch off the machine and remove the plug from the socket. 

4.2.12 Clean the external surface of vacuum cleaner, Hose Pipe and accessories with dry cloth immediately after completion of cleaning activity.

4.3 Cleaning Procedure for vacuum cleaner

4.3.1 At the end of the day clean the surface of the machine with the dry cloth followed by wet cloth and finally with dry cloth.

4.3.2 Clean the hose pipe and accessories, brush with raw water and dry them to remove the traces of water

4.3.3 Release the hooks from the tank and remove the “Cloth Filter”, “HEPA Filter and collect dust / powder from the tank into a polythene bag.

4.3.4 Collect the “Cloth Filter” and “HEPA Filter” in polybag and transfer to cleaning area.

4.3.5 Blow the compressed air at low pressure to clean the filters.

4.3.6 Collect the cleaned filters in a clean poly bag and transfer to warehouse.

4.3.7 Clean the empty tank with purified water and scheduled disinfectant solution and dry the tank with compressed air / wipe with lint free cloth.

4.3.8 Assemble the unit and collect all the accessories into a clean poly bag.

4.3.9 Put the “CLEANED” (Annexure: O-PG067/A03) label and transfer the cleaned vacuum cleaner and accessories to the respective area.

4.3.10 The validity of cleaned Vacuum cleaner shall be 7 days after cleaning or as and when required.

Note: Vacuum cleaners shall not be use in active sampling / dispensing areas.
