Disinfectant/Cleaning solution Preparation in Microbiology

1.0 OBJECTIVE

To lay down a procedure for Preparation of Disinfectant / Cleaning solution.

2.0 SCOPE

This SOP is applicable to the procedure for Preparation of Disinfectant / cleaning solution at COMPANY NAME

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

3.1 Microbiologist /Officer is responsible for the execution. 

3.2 HOD or designee is responsible for review, effective implementation and compliance to the Preparation of Disinfectant / Cleaning solution for execution.                                    

4.0 PROCEDURE 



4.1 Prepare the disinfectant /cleaning solution as given below.

4.2 Preparation of Dettol solution 2.5% v/v

4.2.1 Transfer25 ml of Dettol in 1000 ml of measuring cylinder.

4.2.2 Add Purified water in the measuring cylinder and make up the volume up to 1000 ml.

4.2.3 Use this solution for further use purpose.

4.3 Preparation of Savlon solution 2.5% v/v

4.3.1 Transfer 25 ml of Savlon in 1000 ml of measuring cylinder.

4.3.2 Add Purified water in the measuring cylinder and make up the volume up to 1000 ml.

4.3.3 Use this solution for further use purpose.

4.4 Preparation of Iso Propyl Alcohol 70 % v/v

4.4.1 Take 70 ml of Iso Propyl Alcohol in 100 ml of measuring cylinder.

4.4.2 Add Purified water in the measuring cylinder to make up the volume up to 100 ml.

4.4.3 Filter the solution through sterile 0.45/ 0.22 m membrane filter under Laminar air flow.

4.4.4 Use this solution for further use purpose.         

4.5 Preparation of Tri Sodium phosphate 3% w/v

4.5.1 Transfer 30 grams of Tri sodium phosphate in a beaker and add 1000ml of purified water and boil to dissolve the medium completely.

4.5.2 Use this solution for autoclave drain line cleaning.

4.6 Record the details of disinfectant / cleaning solution preparation record Attachment #1.
